As a makeup artist there are often times when Im out shopping and I spot someone that I am interested in working with. 2 weeks ago photographer Kim Ross & I were in Walmart (Yes I said Walmart) & we saw this slim built easy on the eyes bubbly college student named Brooke…We both decided to flag her down & see if she had ever thought about modeling. To our surprise she was interested in modeling just didn’t know where to begin. So in the aisle of Walmart somewhere between the food section & clothing department we exchanged information.
Early Thursday morning Brooke arrived for hair & makeup….I took my time styling her hair & doing her makeup because I was going to turn “The Girl from Walmart” into a model…….Well you be the judge. Here Brooke’s before & after pics….

Yesterday I did a post on the “Famous Red Lip”……..I worked with aspiring actress Aquiah Ma’at YeYe Omitola so for her look I thought along the lines of old school vintage makeup. So the look was very simple with an exaggerated wing tip with liquid eyeliner & a the “Famous Red Lip”….. When doing a red lip ladies the rest of your makeup should be simple that way your face doesn’t look too busy

Hey Beauties,
This season is definitely the season of the “Famous Red Lip”. No need to fear I myself was also one of those females who feared the “Famous Red Lip”. I realized my biggest problem was that I was using the wrong shade for my skin tone temperature. So Beauties there is no need to fear I’m going to help you become best friends with the “Famous Red Lip”. Today’s blog is solely devoted to helping my Beauties accomplish the “Famous Red Lip”.
Today we going to find the right shade based upon your skin tone.
If your already know your skins undertones temperature, then you can skip ahead. if not, its time to find yours.
Finding Your Skin Tone Temperature
Warm or Cool we have now determined your skin tone temperature & now its time we find the right shade of redlipstick.
Just like your skin tone REDS are divided into two basic categories:
Beauties if your complexion has undertones of pink, violet or blue, you have a cool complexion. its important that your makeup colors should have similar undertones. Like colors with undertones that are warm (yellow) will be less becoming for your complexion. Also if you have a cool complexion, choose cooler reds like a true red or a pinkish red. You need to lean towards the reds with a blue or pink base. If you have a warm complexion, choose warmer reds with a brown base, like a brick or rusty red. I figure I could help my beauties narrow down their search even more, here are some other ways to help you find you proper shade:
For dark beige and bronze skin: - a deep cool red lipstick with a burgundy tone is perfect for you For ivory and light beige: - I recommend a cool true red. However, if you have a very fair complexion, look for a red with a pink tint to it For pale skin & red hair: Avoid: blue reds. - Very pale with freckles, and burns easily you have pink (WARM)undertones. - choose terracotta reds or deep brick reds which complement skin and hair. Medium skin, mid-brown hair: Avoid: tomato reds. - choose COOL reds such as berry reds or deep raspberry Fair skin, blonde to brown hair: Avoid: terracotta reds. - you have mostly pink undertones. - try blue-red lipsticks as these make skin appear creamier. Olive skin, brown hair: Avoid: blue-reds. - Go for tomato reds or deep burgundies to make skin look brighter.

Hey Beauties, I worked on a shoot for the artist/song writer Madia Logan. She is currently in the studio working on her third independent album entitled “Love Madia”, all the music on this upcoming album are going to be a collection of letters sealed with her famous signature “Love Madia”. Photographer/Graphic Designer Sean Webb was working on the promotional pictures and media kit & I supplied the makeup for the shoot. We set up the perfect atmosphere that captured the true essence of who Madia is an artist. This shoot was very important to Madia because this was her first shoot since she became natural. I worked with Madia a couple of year ago on her first album, so I was prepared to help create her look. Her complexion is caramel & I must say her skin is smooth and blemish free. Hi Everyone
So I thought I share with you some of the different shoots I have been blessed to to work on….One of my favorite shoots took place last year in October. It was a very exciting day for me because I had the chance to work with one of Atlanta’s most sought out photographers Mr Jeno. Believe me when I say social networking is a great thing. I follow Mr Jeno on twitter & I have always been captivated by his work. So I took to twitter, tweeted Mr Jeno in hopes that he would respond, & by my surprise he did.
When I saw Mr Jeno’s port, I honestly that thought all images where shot on location…..By my surprise all of his amazing work is shot in the comfort of his own home in the living room….Yes I was shocked….He later explained to me that he is an artist more so then a photographer & he has worked with Photoshop for about 10yrs….You can view more of his work on his website www.mrjeno.com
Below are the images I did with Mr Jeno. I was very honored to have my sister form another mother Rebekkah Garrett as my beauty model….
