Concealer is a very important makeup kit tool. Using concealer properly can create a flawless complexion, cover your spots, blemishes, spider veins, dark circles & even put your skin tone
Well ladies look no more I have decided to dedicate today’s blog solely to the great Concealer….Some shy away from the use of concealer but its truly your friend & Im going to help you make concealer your best friend & not your enemy….lol
YaYa How do I choose the perfect color for my skin?
“The most important thing about concealer is to pick a color that matches your skin tone perfectly…The proper way for a concealer to conceal well, the concealer must have high pigment level and contain mineral oil. This way it sits on top of the skin and it also covers, rather than being sucked into the skin.”
YaYa How can I find a good brand of concealer?
“I always seek out a brand that has a large range of colors, this way you can try mixing your own shades and see which one works best for your skin out of two or even more shades. The best shade will appear to disappear on the skin, and cover the imperfection.”
YaYa How can I eliminating dark circles?
“The best way to hide dark circles beneath your eyes, is using a concealer that has a creamy consistency. Dont use loose powder to set concealer under the eyes. This draws attention to lines around your eyes which is not good. Now the best way to make your under concealer lock into your skin by using a synthetic concealer brush to apply the concealer and then press into the skin with the fingertips. Don’t use a color that is more than one shade lighter than your foundation or you will end up with ‘panda’ eyes.”

Here are my Top Concealer Tips
Tip 1 - Put a small amount on your fourth fingertip. Dot it on and move from the outside corner of the eye inward, and back out again. Tip 2 – Concealer can be used over or under foundation, whichever way you choose, be sure to blend, blend and blend. While you are blending, be gentle to your skin. A triangular makeup sponge can be used to blend in a gentle back-and-forth dotting motion. Tip 3 - Always prep dry skin with moisturizer before applying. Tip 4 - Don’t use concealer on freckles and pigmentations unless you really need to because they may require heavier layers which could make them look worse. Tip 5 – When it comes to dark circles, use your fingertips for the under eye area. Use a shade lighter than your foundation if they are recessed. Use a bit darker if they are puffy. Tip 6 – To hide spider veins, you will need a yellow-based concealer. Tip 7 – Don’t forget the most susceptible areas like the nose bridge, corner of mouth and outer corner of eyes. These areas need special attention while applying concealer. Tip 8 - Apply concealer sparingly. It shouldn’t be cakey or thick. Tip 9- After applying, smile into the mirror and check that you applied the concealer evenly. Blot gently with a tissue over uneven spots. Tip 10 – After you have finished, lightly brush with a sheer translucent powder. This will set your concealer. Tip 11 - Always have two concealers. Have one for your tanned days whether from a tanning booth or from the sun, and one for your normal skin tone. Tip 12 - Do not keep concealer or other cosmetics for more than a year. It could harbor bacteria which will cause your face to break out
