As a makeup artist there are often times when Im out shopping and I spot someone that I am interested in working with. 2 weeks ago photographer Kim Ross & I were in Walmart (Yes I said Walmart) & we saw this slim built easy on the eyes bubbly college student named Brooke…We both decided to flag her down & see if she had ever thought about modeling. To our surprise she was interested in modeling just didn’t know where to begin. So in the aisle of Walmart somewhere between the food section & clothing department we exchanged information.
Early Thursday morning Brooke arrived for hair & makeup….I took my time styling her hair & doing her makeup because I was going to turn “The Girl from Walmart” into a model…….Well you be the judge. Here Brooke’s before & after pics….

Hey Beauties, I worked on a shoot for the artist/song writer Madia Logan. She is currently in the studio working on her third independent album entitled “Love Madia”, all the music on this upcoming album are going to be a collection of letters sealed with her famous signature “Love Madia”. Photographer/Graphic Designer Sean Webb was working on the promotional pictures and media kit & I supplied the makeup for the shoot. We set up the perfect atmosphere that captured the true essence of who Madia is an artist. This shoot was very important to Madia because this was her first shoot since she became natural. I worked with Madia a couple of year ago on her first album, so I was prepared to help create her look. Her complexion is caramel & I must say her skin is smooth and blemish free. Mascara’s sole purpose is to make eyelashes look darker, thicker and longer. Mascara helps to make light haired girls lashes look dark, short eyelashes look long and lushes, and thin lashes look thick and beautiful. There is a right way and a wrong way to apply mascara. By applying mascara the right way, you can avoid fringed and goopy lashes and smudges underneath your eyes. When applying mascara the proper way, start from the bases of your lashes and make your way out to the edges of the lashes. Always apply mascara to the top lashes, but only put mascara on the bottom lashes for a heavier, more dramatic look. Remember, if you apply mascara to the bottom lashes, you will be more prone to getting smudges underneath your eyes. Always hold the mascara with the wand parallel to your lashes. This will help to make sure the mascara gets applied in just the right place. Put on one coat of mascara if you want a subtle look or put on two or three coats for a more dramatic look. If you want a classic look apply black or brown mascara, but if you are feeling more daring apply blue or another bright colored mascara. Mascara is designed to make girls feel more confident and pretty. Applying mascara correctly can make you more confident and beautiful too! Mascara Tips

Hi Everyone
So I thought I share with you some of the different shoots I have been blessed to to work on….One of my favorite shoots took place last year in October. It was a very exciting day for me because I had the chance to work with one of Atlanta’s most sought out photographers Mr Jeno. Believe me when I say social networking is a great thing. I follow Mr Jeno on twitter & I have always been captivated by his work. So I took to twitter, tweeted Mr Jeno in hopes that he would respond, & by my surprise he did.
When I saw Mr Jeno’s port, I honestly that thought all images where shot on location…..By my surprise all of his amazing work is shot in the comfort of his own home in the living room….Yes I was shocked….He later explained to me that he is an artist more so then a photographer & he has worked with Photoshop for about 10yrs….You can view more of his work on his website www.mrjeno.com
Below are the images I did with Mr Jeno. I was very honored to have my sister form another mother Rebekkah Garrett as my beauty model….

Makeup should never match your outfit. Having the same color makeup with the same outfit is so 1970′s & this may be just my personal take on it. Wearing similar colors will only battle each other rather than complement the makeup or the shirt. So with bright colors, you should never match. However, neutral makeup colors that match your outfit are more acceptable. ladies when our makeup is applied correctly, it helps bring out the natural beauty we all have. We all have a few occasions in life when wearing makeup that is bright and colorful is appropriate. I also think its okay for young teens and college aged women to wear various colorful looks for an evening out at the clubs. These looks are designed specifically for fun and fashion, rather than for beauty. If you wear makeup for other types of occasions or every day, then bright colors are not the best choice. Properly selected makeup colors should complement the color of clothing you wear, rather than add to it. Like here is an example of what I mean, if you wear a casual plaid shirt in shades of red and maybe some brown, you can actually enhance this casual look by choosing earth tone colors for your makeup. Rather than using a red as eye shadow, you can use a soft brown with a touch of subtle pink in the brow area. If you wear a vivid colored shirt, such as a bright yellow, you can also use shades of brown or even gold with a touch of beige or cream as a brow highlighter. I just think it is best to use shades that are in keeping with the color scheme of your apparel. This also refers to how light or dark an eye color is rather than to the actual color of it. If you wear a light colored shirt, such as a pastel blue or pink, you want to accent your features by also using soft lighter shades to make it look natural. There are a lot of earth based colors that can be used in combination with other shadow colors to create a softer look for the eye area. The idea in using makeup is to have the people you encounter remember how bright and beautiful your eyes, lips or cheek bones looked and not how extremely how bright your makeup was. Always try to find colors that match your skin tone, even when searching for earth tone, you can still choose one shade lighter or darker. The variant of light and dark will help you create a highlighting effect, or a warm glow to your look.
